GRACED BY GRIT ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK! Thi GRACED BY GRIT ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK!

This week, we are featuring @daniela_fornaciari for our Athlete Spotlight!

Daniela Fornaciari is a junior on the volleyball team at the University of Pennsylvania. Daniela has received recognition all over the country and was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on two occasions.

Daniela grew up in San Diego, California and went to Torrey Pines High School. Growing up, she wanted to be a vet, more specifically, an equine vet, (she’s still pursuing her goal). She started playing volleyball in 3rd grade around the age of 8, however, she claims she really started growing her passion for the sport around the age of 11 when she joined a competitive team. @tammyleibl, (x3 olympian) Daniela’s coach growing up and mentor, “had an impact on [her] drive, leadership, and how [she] learned to become a supportive teammate.”

Daniela shows GRIT through “always working hard in every aspect,” helping her succeed through Penn’s rigorous courses and competitive volleyball team. When asked what advice would she give to young girls aspiring to play sports in college/professionally, Daniela responded with “always give 100% and don’t compare yourself to others because success is different for everyone.” She would tell her past self growing up to “enjoy the process more and to live in the moment because you never get those years back.”
